It’s not easy to adapt an ambitious Sci-Fi novel, let alone an ambitious novel as Dune. But director Denis Villeneuve actually managed to pull this off.

The first part of the adaptation, Dune: Part 1, was released in October 2021, received great reviews, grossed over 400 million dollars, and won six Academy Awards.

Now, more than two years later, we finally got the sequel, and it was worth the (long) wait.

The movie picks up right after the last one, and follows Paul Atreides as he seeks revenge against the conspirators who destroyed his family.

The world of Arrakis feels so alive in this movie, like it’s a real place.

The story is captivating, even if it’s a bit familiar, and all I wanted to do was to see more of this world.

The actors are phenomenal. Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya were so good together, as well as Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin and Javier Bardem.

There are lots of new cast members, like Florence Pugh, Christopher Walken and Austin Butler – the latter one really stole the show.

But it’s all about the execution.

The movie is a pure spectacle. The VFX looks real and flawless, the action sequences are incredible and full of life.

The scale is huge, I mean, enormous! Big armies, giant worms, apocalyptic battlefields and so much more.

It’s all thanks to director Denis Villeneuve. After he directed great Sci-Fi films like Arrival and Blade Runner 2049 (and of course, Dune: Part 1), he finally completed his adaptation of Dune, and he’s officially one of the greatest directors of our generation.

He crafted a big scale tale, with the perfect balance between epic battles and character developments.

His action sequences are something to behold!

I will put him alongside Christopher Nolan!

Another big star is cinematographer Greig Fraser. He worked on movies like Rogue One, The Batman, Dune: Part 1, The Creator – all of them are some of the most beautiful blockbusters in the last decade.

His cinematography in this movie is beautiful, haunting, warming, and above all – cinematic.

Of course, I have to mention composer Hans Zimmer – like always, his score feels like a dream!

So, you have to watch this move. It’s The Lord of the Rings of our generation.

It’s a must-see experience at the biggest screen possible!
